2010 Lineup
Puerto Rico 1 week in early March (dates are flexible for spring break schedules)
Our team will be hosting clinics with the Puerto Rico Athletics Federation in San Juan, where the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games will be held. The audience will be coaches and youth athletes. This team will serve as the initial interaction between the federation and Athletes in Action.
This is a co-ed team that needs all track disciplines represented: sprints, hurdles, throws, pole vault, high jump and horizontal jumps. We have roster spots for athletes and coaches.
India 3 weeks starting in late May
The South Asia Project is looking for track athletes and coaches to go with them to lead the track & field portions of three different camps held in various locations in India. For the last three years, AIA has bee running sports camps and worked with over 850 college and university athletes. They run sport sessions for basketball, volleyball, soccer and track & field.
This is a co-ed team which needs all track disciplines represented: sprints, hurdles, throws, pole vault, high jump and horizontal jumps. For more information on the South Aisia Project, visit www.athletesinaction.org.
Kenya 4 weeks starting June 10th
This team of distance runners will primarily spend their time with past and current athletes in Eldoret. The key athletes we plan on working alongside are Catherine Ndereba, 2008 silver medalist in the marathon; Moses Kiptanui, former world record holder and 1992 silver medalist in the 3000m steeplechase; and John Ngugi, the 1988 gold medalist in the 5,000m and a five time world cross country champion. This team has also been invited to area primary and secondary schools to interact with their students to help them develop physically, mentally and spiritually.
This is a co-ed team for distance athletes who have achieved NCAA D1 Regional qualifying standards.
Guatemala 3-4 weeks starting June 10
This team will be targeting the athletes in Guatemala City who are part of their Junior National Team. Our team will workout with their team and hold clinics for both coaches and athletes as well as build relationships with Federation officials.
This is a co-ed team and will need all of the track disciplines represented with more emphasis placed upon sprints, hurdles and throws.
Fiji 3-4 weeks starting June 10
This team will be staying in Suva, Fiji, which is the unofficial capital of the South Pacific. We will be hosting a training camp for both our team and members of the Fiji National Team. Together these athletes and coaches will work together putting on clinics in and around Suva. We will also be hosting other National Teams from a few of teh small island nations in the South Pacific. Our time will finish up with an international competition between 3 or 4 National Teams.
This is a co-ed team and needs mostly sprinters, jumpers and throwers, but is open to middle distance and distance athletes. Athletes and coaches are needed.
Europe 3 weeks starting in July
We are taking this competitive team to Belgium to race in July. It has been several years since we have taken a competitive team to Europe and hope this team restarts that tradition and allows Athletes in Action to have a positive influence on the Eurpoean circuit. Our team will be looking to build relationships with our fellow competitors and starting open discussion concerning how to integrate one's spiritual life into their sport.
This is a co-ed team and is open to all track disciplines who have met the NCAA D1 Regional qualifying standards.
